Iced Matcha Latte

We have some good quality matcha (Japanese green tea powder) given to us from my son’s Japanese great grandmother who is 95 and lives next door. She showed me how to do the tea ceremony, including how to handle the tea bowl and whisk the tea so the bubbles are the right size.

But as it’s been pretty hot in Tokyo the last few weeks didn’t really feel like hot green tea and so tried making iced matcha latte instead. It tastes so amazing and fits perfectly to this weather too! If I ever have my own cafe this will definitely be on the menu 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 small teaspoon of matcha (can adjust to how you like it)
  • about 200ml of soya milk (can use any kind of milk)
  • 3 ice cubes
  • a small bowl

Method

Use a hand blender to mix the matcha and milk (can do this in the bowl if you are careful, or mix in a larger container and transfer to the bowl).
Add the ice cubes and enjoy the tea!
