tivra = vigorous
samvaganam = enthusiasm, passion
asannah = brings nearer

This one seems to say that if there is vigorous enthusiasm then you will get nearer to illumination. The fire is to represent vigorous enthusiasm and the people (and dog) around the fire are illuminated by it.

3.3 Samadhi is the object alone, illuminating it’s own form as if empty

3.2 Dhyana is being in that state where thoughts are steadily flowing

3.1 Dharana is binding the mind to one thing

Jamming

2.55 Then arises transcendent control of the senses

2.54 Pratyahara is disconnecting from sense objects and purifying the mind

2.53 And the mind becomes fit for concentration

2.52 Then the cover over our inner light wanes

2.51 The fourth is transcending internal and external objects

2.50 (Breathwork) is exhalation, inhalation or stationary, regulated by place, time and number and long or short.

2.49 The next step is pranayama, regulation of inhalation and exhalation
