Non-harming, truthfulness, non-stealing, consciously directing your energy and letting go are the forebearances.

Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, 2.30

ahimsa = non-harming, peacefulness
satya = truthfulness
asteya = non-stealing
brahmacarya = consciously directing your energy
aparigraha = letting go
yama = forebearances, respect for others

The yama are often described in a “things you should do, or at least try to do” kind of way. Today I thought I’d interpret them more as things we want to do and things we are doing, because if we do them we can be together with others.
